A British company have unveiled their new, pioneering system for identifying consumption and billing electric vehicle drivers for recharging.

Called EBConnect, the product was created by Elektromotive.

The system works by managing a two-way exchange of data via GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) to track usage and then uses this information to bill customers.

EBConnect will be installed on all 160 Elektrobay charging stations in the UK.

Electrobay is the only charging station that is fully compabible with plug-in hybrid and all electric vehicles.

Commenting on the announcement, Calvey Taylor-Haw, Managing Director for Elektromotive said: “We are working hard to increase our network of charging stations around the globe. By offering new technologies, such as EBConnect and the Three-Phase ‘Fast Charge’ Elektrobay, we are helping to facilitate the transition to electric-powered passenger and commercial vehicles.”
